Hagensborg Water and Fire Protection Services
The Hagensborg Water and Fire Protection System serves just under 500 residents in the Hagensborg area. It began as an improvement district in 1964. On 1 January 2021, the improvement district was dissolved, and responsibility for the system transferred to CCRD, in part because CCRD secured a $3.7 million grant toward the cost of needed capital upgrades.
System upgrade planning is now underway, including looking at water treatment options, a layout for a new reservoir, and emergency backup from Snootli Creek. CCRD is also working with Nuxalk Nation on archeological review and protocol steps.

Resident Survey
In summer 2022, CCRD engaged Metroline Research Group and Econics to conduct an online survey of Hagensborg residents. The goals were to find out how satisfied residents are with the services and how they would like to be involved in system management in the future. Results from this project can be found below:
Governance Study
Also in 2022, CCRD engaged Econics to complete a governance study to assess options available under the Local Government Act to continue to involve residents in water and fire protection services management. The final report from this study can be found below:
