On March 14, 2019 during a regular public meeting, the CCRD Board of Directors approved by resolution an advocacy plan which will guide board members and staff in their work of advocating for CCRD to higher orders of government, and of building a broader understanding of the complexity of governance in our region.
Specifically, this plan addresses the content of Union of BC Municipalities Resolution B150: Financing Reconciliation: Solutions for Local Communities, which CCRD submitted to the UBCM AGM in September of 2018. This resolution carried nearly unanimously, giving CCRD a mandate to move forward on behalf of advocacy for their region as well as other regions in the province. As well, the plan addresses the requests made by the broader UBCM membership via an off-the-floor resolution at UBCM 2018 entitled OF1: Building Understanding of Resolution B150: Financing Reconciliation. This resolution requested that UBCM work with CCRD and Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District to provide a workshop at the 2019 UBCM Annual Convention in Vancouver.
