Please be advised that Environment Canada has issued the following alert (as of 3:30 pm - Tuesday October 22, 2019)
Weather Event Impacts:
· Potential for falling tree limbs causing power outages
· Localized wind damage or injury
· Challenging driving conditions in cross winds
Timing:
· Starting Friday morning for Central Coast and crossing through to the Kootenays by Friday evening.
Key Points:
· A strong low pressure system will cross B.C. on Friday bringing potentially damaging winds. This next system is expected to be stronger than the one that gave windy conditions today (Tuesday, October 22nd).
· Locally, wind gusts of 80 km/h or higher are possible. Wind gusts along the Central Coast may exceed 100 km/h.
· There will be precipitation along the front as it crosses B.C.; however, widespread heavy precipitation is not expected at this point.
· With falling freezing levels, high elevation snow may occur on highway passes.
· Colder, drier air will follow this system and remain in place over the weekend.
· There is uncertainty with the track of this system. The range of scenarios yields varying strengths and locations for the strongest winds. Please monitor forecasts and alerts in coming days.
